Protection class 1 »Security level 1 Destruction of data carriers in such a way that the data reproduced on them can be reproduced without special aids and specialist knowledge, but not without a special expenditure of time. For data carriers with general data that should be made illegible, e.g. B. catalogs, advertising material or brochures or similar H-1 = mechanically / electronically inoperable
Protection class 1 »Security level 2 Destruction of data carriers in such a way that the reproduction of the data reproduced on them is only possible with aids and special effort. For data carriers with internal data that should be made illegible, e.g. B. general internal work instructions, travel guidelines, forms, etc. H-2 = damaged
Protection class 1 & 2 »Security level 3 Destruction of data carriers in such a way that the reproduction of the data reproduced on them is only possible with considerable effort (people, tools, time). For data carriers with sensitive and confidential data, e.g. B. financial accounting documents, offers, sales evaluations, orders with address data of persons or similar. H-3 = deformed
Protection class 2 »Security level 4 Destruction of data carriers in such a way that the reproduction of the data reproduced on them is only possible with exceptionally high expenditure (people, aids, time). For data carriers with particularly sensitive and confidential data. eg balance sheets and conditions, pay slips, personal data / files, employment contracts, medical reports, tax documents of people, etc. H-4 = split and deformed several times, particle size max. 2000 mm²

The three security classes: Class 1 stands for normal security, which is required for internal data, with which a company could be harmed if it were to become public, or there is a risk of identity theft; Class 2 stands for higher security for confidential data, which could have negative effects for a company or a violation of legal regulations if it were made public. Class 3 stands for the highest level of security, and for particularly confidential or secret data which could cause serious damage in a company or government institution if it becomes public.
Disk types. The data carrier particle sizes in the security levels have been adapted to the state of the art. Application example: Protection class 2 is to be used for personal data / files and the data carriers are assigned to security level 4. With paper, the security level is P-4, with hard drives H-4.
